The Sunlander - Train Facilities & Services
Only cash (AUD $), traveller's cheques (AUD $) and credit cards (Visa and Master Card only) are accepted onboard Traveltrain services. Personal cheques and debit cards are not accepted and EFTPOS is not available. Guests are advised to bring cash for the journey to purchase drinks and meals. Traveltrain is working towards providing customers with electronic facilities in the future.
Showers: Are provided at the end of all sleeping cars.
Toilets: Are provided at the end of all sleeping and sitting cars
Buffet Car: A licensed Buffet Car is available for passengers to purchase a range of Australian style meals and beverages, all set against the backdrop of an ever changing view. View the Buffet Car menu.
Club Car: The Club Car has a friendly atmosphere and offers continuous service of light refreshments, drinks and confectionery except for some periods of night travel. A restricted liquor service is also available. View the Club Car menu.
Queenslander Class: Offers its own restaurant and lounge car exclusively for Queenslander Class guests. View Queenslander Class' menu.
Drinking fountain: Are provided at the front of most cars.
Special needs: The Sunlander has limited provision for passengers with disabilities. Please advise your Travel Consultant if you have any special assistance needs or require assistance by staff onboard.
Dietary needs: Special dietary meals are available and requests must be pre-paid and submitted at least four business days before travel. View the Special Dietary Meals menu.
The Sunlander - Accommodation Types
First Class Single Sleeping Berth
- Each First Class Single Sleeping Berth consists of a single bed for one person, or one adult sharing with a child under four years.
- Each cabin contains a wardrobe, power point (240 volt AC) and a washbasin with a vanity mirror.
- The berth has a reading light, pillow, top and bottom sheet, blanket and towel.
- Half of the single berths face in the direction of travel and the remaining face in reverse.

First Class Twin Sleeping Berth
- Each First Class Twin Sleeping Berth cabin consists of two bunk style beds.
- Each bed can be sold individually to persons of the same gender, or as an entire cabin to a couple or small family group.
- Each cabin contains a table, power point (240 volt AC) and a washbasin with a vanity mirror. A reading light, pillow, lower sheet, blanket and towel are also provided for each berth.
- All First Class twin cabins face the direction of travel.

Economy Class Sleeping Berth
- Each Economy Class Sleeping Berth cabin consists of three bunk style beds.
- Each bed can be sold individually to persons of the same gender, or as an entire cabin to a party or family group.
- Each cabin contains a table, power point (240 volt AC) and a washbasin with a vanity mirror. A reading light, pillow, lower sheet, blanket and towel are also provided for each berth.
- All Economy Class sleeping cabins face the direction of travel.

Economy Class Seat
- All Economy Class Seating carriages are open style saloon cars with overhead luggage racks and individual reading lights.
- The comfortable seats may be reclined to the desired position by pressing a button in the arm rest. A fold down table and foot rest is provided however pillows and blankets are not provided.
- All Economy Class seating face the direction of travel.

The Sunlander - Travel Restrictions
Smoking: Smoking is NOT permitted on any QR Traveltrain service, station platform or within 4 metres of any QR building or entrance.
Passenger’s luggage: All passengers may check in two items of luggage not exceeding 20 kilograms (44 pounds) each, plus one piece of carry on hand luggage free of charge. Where check-in facilities are available, luggage must be presented at least 45 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time and liability for loss or damage is limited to $200. Break of journey: Sector fares apply when the break of journey is more than four hours. The Sunlander stops only at stations to pick up or set down passengers who have pre-booked their travel. Refer to the timetable or ask your Travel Consultant for more details.
Unaccompanied children: Minimum age for unaccompanied children onboard The Sunlander service is 12 years old.
