Itinerary
Day 1 Depart Brisbane on Spirit of the Outback, bound for Longreach.
Day 2 Upon arrival, enjoy a Longreach Welcome tour before checking into your accommodation. (D)
Day 3 Time to discover Australia’s rich aviation history on the 747 and 707 Secrets tour, and visit the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame for a fascinating tribute to the pioneering men and women of Australia. This afternoon, soak up a spectacular outback sunset with the Drover’s Dinner Extravaganza. (B,L,D)
Day 4 This morning, retrace the footsteps of the pioneers as we travel south into the ‘Kings in Grass Castles’ Channel Country. Enjoy lunch in the charming bush town of Windorah, prior to arriving in Birdsville late afternoon. (B,L,D)
Day 5 Today, explore the incredible desert community of Birdsville. Our experience begins with the Birdsville Working Museum, then explore the famous Birdsville Race Club and discover the Burke and Wills tree on the Diamantina. In the mid afternoon, we head out for happy hour on the amazing red dunes at Big Red. Then it’s back to the Birdsville Pub for dinner and a Flying Doctor Auction. (B,L,D)
Day 6 Departing Birdsville, we travel through Cacoory Ruins, Cuttaburra Crossing and Bedourie for an early lunch. Moving north where the channel country meets the desert, we arrive at Boulia. (B,L,D)
Day 7 Today, we embark on the Plenty Highway to journey across the channel country flood plains of the famous Georgina River. In the afternoon arrive in Alice Springs. (B,L,D)
Day 8 Today, catch some of the many sights of ‘The Alice’ on your comprehensive and informative tour. Stop at the School of the Air, historic Telegraph Station, Royal Flying Doctors Service, and the Alice Springs Reptile Centre. Finish the day with a panoramic view of the town and surrounding ranges. (B,L,D)
Day 9 Departing Alice Springs, we head for Glen Helen Gorge, located 133km west of Alice Springs on the edge of the spectacular West MacDonnell.
Day 10 Another natural beauty today as we head to Kings Canyon. Join a guided group climb to the rim of Kings Canyon for marvellous views of Watarrka National Park. An easier walk along the boulder-strewn canyon floor is also available. (B,L,D)
Day 11 Bid the Canyon farewell as we head towards Kata Tjuta for an afternoon tour and to explore Walpa Gorge. Travel to the Uluru sunset viewing area, watch the sunset and the changing colours of Uluru. From here, enjoy dinner under the stars with your very own storyteller – sharing the tales of humanity as told in the stars. (B,L,D)
Day 12
In the morning, join the Uluru Sunrise, Climb and Base Tour, or for the non-climbers, the Uluru Sunrise and Guided Cultural Walk. Both tours include a visit to Mutitjulu Waterhole and the Uluru - Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. Return to Alice Springs. (B,L,D)
Day 13 This afternoon, board one of Australia’s iconic trains, The Ghan, for your journey from Alice Springs to Adelaide. (B,L,D)
Day 14 Welcome to Adelaide, the City of Churches. On arrival you will be transferred to your accommodation, where you’ll enjoy a farewell dinner. (B,L,D)
Day 15 Your tour comes to an end after breakfast. (B)
