The adventure keeps you on your toes, with quests to find opals, pre-historic dinosaur footprints and Qantas’ original hangar before your time is up!
Itinerary
Day 1
Depart Brisbane on Spirit of the Outback for a colourful 24 hour rail journey to Barcaldine.
Day 2
On arrival, enjoy a Welcome Tour of Barcaldine – Garden City of the Outback. Learn the secrets of the Tree of Knowledge before taking a tour of the Australian Workers Heritage Centre. (D)
Day 3
Today, visit Ilfracombe and the 100 year old Wellshot Hotel. Travelling on to Winton, be entertained at the Waltzing Matilda Centre. Enjoy the fun of the “The Ultimate Progressive Dinner & Winton Welcome” in the evening. Beginning with a short drive into the Rangelands Scenic Rift Valley for an unforgettable sunset, it then continues onto The North Gregory Hotel for the main course. Finish the night at the Royal Mail Open Air Theatre. (B,L,D)
Day 4
Visit scenic ‘Carisbrooke’ Station, before heading to the LBJ Opal Mine. Take the opportunity to fossick for your own piece of outback colour prior to travelling on to Lark Quarry with over 3,000 prehistoric dinosaur footprints. (B,L,D)
Day 5
After two nights among the magic mesa country of Winton, arrive in downtown Longreach. Step back in time with aviation treasures, such as the original Qantas hangar and the amazing artefacts that bring alive the early culture of Australia’s national airline. (B,L,D)
Day 6
Start the day with a Cemetery Tour where you can celebrate some great pioneer lives, then move on to Banjo’s Outback Theatre and Shearing Shed. Soak up the legends and unsung heroes at The Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame. Experience the Drover’s Sunset Dinner Extravaganza with an unforgettable cruise on the Thompson River. (B,L,D)
Day 7
Board Spirit of the Outback for your return journey back to Brisbane. (B)

Arrive in Brisbane.
