Queenslander Class is a premium class of travel onboard The Sunlander. Your twin sleeping berth is appointed with a host of special touches to ensure your journey is a memorable one.

Queenslander Class berths feature:

  • A panoramic window which allows you sit back and enjoy the scenery
  • An in-cabin commentary service
  • Three seater couch (converts to twin bunk style beds by night)
  • Bed turndown service
  • Air conditioning
  • Complimentary robes and slippers
  • Complimentary wet pack containing shower gel, shampoo and conditioner
  • Fresh, crisp bed linen and towels
  • Vanity unit, full length mirror, wardrobe, wash basin, bedside reading light and 240 volt powerpoint
  • A hair dryer is available on request

All Queenslander Class berths face the direction of travel and are adorned with a Cooktown orchid, Queensland’s state floral emblem.

SINGLE SLEEPING BERTH

  • Each First Class Single Sleeping Berth consists of a single bed for one person, or one adult sharing with a child under four years.
  • Each cabin contains a wardrobe, power point (240 volt AC) and a washbasin with a vanity mirror.
  • The berth has a reading light, pillow, top and bottom sheet, blanket and towel.
  • Half of the single berths face the direction of travel and the remaining face in reverse.

 

 

TWIN SLEEPING BERTH

  • Each First Class Twin Sleeping Berth cabin consists of two bunk style beds.
  • Each bed can be sold individually to persons of the same gender, or as an entire cabin to a couple or small family group.
  • Each cabin consists a table, two wardrobes, full length mirror, power point (240 volt AC) and a washbasin with vanity mirror.
  • The berths have a reading light, pillow, top and bottom sheet, blanket and towel.
  • All First Class twin cabins face the direction of travel.

  • Each Economy Class Sleeping Berth cabin consists of three bunk style beds.
  • Each bed can be sold individually to persons of the same gender, or as an entire cabin to a party or family group.
  • Each cabin contains a table, power point (240 volt AC) and a washbasin with a vanity mirror.
  • A reading light, pillow, lower and top sheet, blanket and towel are also provided for each berth.
  • All Economy Class sleeping cabins face the direction of travel.

  • All Economy Class Seating carriages are open saloon cars with overhead luggage racks and individual reading lights.
  • The comfortable seats may be reclined to the desired position by pressing a button in the arm rest. A fold down table and foot rest is provided however pillows and blankets are not provided.
  • All Economy Class seats face the direction of travel.

Only cash (AUD $), traveller's cheques (AUD $), credit cards (Visa and Master Card only) and debit cards are accepted onboard Traveltrain services. Personal cheques and scheme cards including gift cards are not accepted and EFTPOS is not available. Guests are advised to bring cash for the journey to purchase drinks and meals. Traveltrain is working towards providing customers with electronic facilities in the future.

Showers

The Sunlander provides showers at the end of all sleeping cars.

Toilets

Are provided at the end of all sleeping and sitting cars in all Traveltrain services.

Dining in Queenslander Class is one of the true highlights of the journey. Enjoy mouthwatering gourmet meals prepared by our expert onboard chef, made from the freshest local produce and complemented by an award winning selection of Australian wines. The signature seafood platter, delivered direct from the trawler to the train in Townsville, is a firm favourite with our Queenslander Class passengers. Meals are served in the fine dining atmosphere of an exclusive restaurant car. All meals are included in the price of your Queenslander Class fare.

  • Lounge Car

    Relax with a drink in the exclusive Queenslander Class lounge car and enjoy live entertainment. Get to know your fellow travellers or simply sit back, relax and marvel at the spectacular scenery as it passes you by. Portable DVD players and a selection of movies are available, as well as a variety of board games and magazines. Guests can also enjoy complimentary tea and coffee in the comfort of the lounge car.

  • Drinking Fountains

    Drinking fountains provided at the leading end of most cars.

  • Club Car

    The Club Car has a friendly atmosphere and offers continuous service for light refreshments, drinks and confectionery except for some periods of night travel. A restricted liquor service is also available in the Club Car.

    A licensed Buffet Car is available for passengers to purchase a range of Australian style meals and beverages, all set against a backdrop of an ever changing view.

passengers with disabilities


The Sunlander has limited provision for passengers with disabilities.

Our onboard staff are available to aid passengers with special needs including assisting them when boarding and disembarking, moving to and from their seat, sleeping berth, accessing the toilets and shower entrance, and if required, serve meals to their seats.

However, our onboard staff cannot lift passengers in any way or provide any form of nursing assistance such as giving injections, medication, helping passengers on or off the toilet pedestal, and washing passengers. Should a passenger require assistance of this kind it is the responsibility of the passenger to arrange for a carer to travel with them.
