To assist you with your traveling requirements below is a list of key aspects to consider. Refer to QR Traveltrain Terms & Conditions for further information.

Passengers Luggage:
What can I take on board?
All passengers may have conveyed free of charge two items of luggage not exceeding 25 kilograms (55 pounds) each, plus one piece of hand luggage. Where check-in facilities are available, luggage must be presented at least 45 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. The liability for loss or damage is limited to $200. Unchecked luggage is carried at the owner’s risk. Identification tags should be affixed to all items including hand luggage. Occupational Health and Safety Legislation provides guidelines outlining the safe weight that can be lifted by our staff. We appreciate your co-operation
Showers & Toilets Showers and toilets are provided at the end of all sleeping and/or sitting cars. There are no showers available on the Tilt Train between Brisbane and Rockhampton.
Reservations: Reservations may be made 325 days in advance. Restrictions for short journeys do apply. Please see Terms & Conditions for full details.
All fares quoted on this site are in Australian dollars.
Smoking: Smoking is not permitted onboard any QR Traveltrain service.
Credit Cards:
QR accepts all major credit cards (Mastercard, Bankcard and Visa) onboard The Queenslander, Sunlander and the Spirit of the Outback. No cash advance is available.
Dining and Special Diets For passengers travelling in Queenslander Class on the Sunlander meals are included in the fare. On other services, meals and snacks are available for purchase as required from the Dining Car, Club Car, Food Bar Car or Galley (depending on the train). Alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks are not included in the fare prices, but may be purchased on all Traveltrain long distance services.

Arrangements can be made for passengers who have special dietary requirements providing 48 hours notice is given. Special dietary meals include Diabetic, Low Fat, Vegetarian, Vegan, Kosher, Gluten Free, Low Cholesterol, Coeliac, Lactose Intolerant and many others.

Guide and Assistance Dogs
Trained Guide and Assistance dogs accompanying people with disabilities are permitted on all QR Traveltrain services. (Proof of animal training and medical certificates will need to be supplied before travel can be approved.)
Customer with
Special Needs
Customers with special needs should contact our Reservations Centre on 1300 131 722 (or +617 3235 1133 if calling from overseas) to arrange your booking to ensure all necessary arrangements are made.
Children: A child 12 years of age and over will be permitted to travel unaccompanied on Traveltrain services.
A child under 12 years of age will not be permitted to travel unless accompanied by a parent or adult guardian responsible for the care of the child.
Break of Journey: Economy class only. Break of journey is permitted for journeys over 120km at any nominated station but sector fares will apply when the break of journey is more than four (4) hours.
Concession Fares: Concession fares are applicable to:

Children under 16 years of age (Infants 3 years and under may travel free if sharing a seat or sleeping berth).

Students sixteen years or over in
possession of a Queensland Secondary, Tertiary I.D. Card.

Queensland Resident Pensioners and Senior Citizens in possession of their respective Concession Cards.

Discounts of up to 25% off the rail fare apply to Interstate Pensioners and Senior Citizens. Conditions apply.

Cancellation or
Fees will apply if travel is cancelled or amended.
Motorail: Available only on the Spirit of the Outback and The Sunlander services Thursday and Sunday.
Reservations for Motorail may be made up to 325 days in advance for Queenslander Class and First Class passengers and 14 days in advance for Economy Class sitting passengers. Vehicles must be presented for loading 90 minutes prior to departure except for the Spirit of the Outback departing Brisbane which must be loaded between 2pm and 3pm. Vehicles and their contents are conveyed at the owners risk. Other conditions apply.
